In the month of September 2021, Implementing Agencies have spent Rs. 17.77 Crore. Since its inception from FY 2016-17 until 30th September 2021, cumulative fund released is Rs. 792 Crore & total expenditures incurred to the tune of Rs. 651 Crore under National Hydrology Project.

• The Joint Secretary (A, IC &GW), DoWR, RD & GR, Shri Subodh Yadav Ji had visited National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) Roorkee on 10th September 2021 and had an interaction with scientists of the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. Joint Secretary reviewed the progress of ongoing activities by NIH including PDS studies under the NHP. He also had a visit to NIH water quality laboratory. Dr. D. Gnanasundar, Senior Joint Commissioner, NHP accompanied the Joint Secretary during his visit to NIH.
  
• Dr. D. Gnanasundar, Senior Joint Commissioner (SJC) visited Hyderabad during 1st to 4th September 2021. SJC had a review meeting with senior officers of Telangana SW on 1st Sep 2021. On 2nd Sep 2021 SJC reviewed Telangana GW and visited National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad for discussion with the Project Director. Dr. V.V Rao, Project Director, NHP. The knowledge products developed by NRSC under NHP was briefed and SJC had interactions with WRG Scientists on four knowledge products: a) Water balance components b) Actual evapotranspiration (AET) c) Glacier mapping of Ganges/Indus basin & Spatial snowmelt rate and d) flood forecasting in Godavari and Tapi basins.
  
• Dr. D. Gnanasundar, Senior Joint Commissioner (SJC) had field visits to RTDAS - SW/RTDAS - GW and piezometer sites in Telangana state on 3rd Sep 2021 and had interaction with Field officers involved in NHP activities.
  
• Visit of NPMU / TAMC/ NWIC to CGWB Faridabad on 14th September 2021. Dr. D. Gnanasundar, SJC and Sh. N. Jiten Singh, Deputy Commissioner along with Shri. Sachin, Deputy Director, NWIC & TAMC experts visited CGWB to review the activities under NHP. Discussion was focused on the bid of Digital Water Level Recorder (DWLR) and the issues on the Technical Evaluation Report (TER) pertaining to data transmission to the WIMS portal and center of excellence.
  
• Review Meeting & Field Visits at Shimla on 22nd -23rd September, 21 by Sh. Rakesh Kashyap, Senior Joint Commissioner, NPMU, NHP, and Dr. Ashoke Basistha, Hydrologist, TAMC visited Irrigation & Public Health Department (IPH -Jal Shakti Vibhag) Himachal Pradesh to review the implementation progress of NHP activities being carried out by Himachal Pradesh. The issues pertaining to NHP activities were discussed in detail in the meetings held with the officers of IPH, Himachal Pradesh
  
• Sh. Rakesh Kashyap, SJC, NPMU, NHP, and Dr. Ashoke Basistha, Hydrologist, TAMC visited BBMB & WRD Punjab on 20th September 2021 to review the implementation progress of NHP activities being carried out by BBMB & Punjab. The issues pertaining to NHP activities were discussed in detail in the meetings held with the officers of the BBMB & WRD Punjab team.
  
• The Review Meeting of WRD Haryana at Panchkula held on 21st September 2021. Sh. Rakesh Kashyap, SJC, NPMU, NHP, and Dr. Ashoke Basistha, Hydrologist, TAMC visited WRD Haryana to review the implementation progress of NHP activities being carried out by Haryana.
  
• Joint Secretary (A, IC&GW), DoWR, and Project Coordinator of National Hydrology Project (NHP) chaired the review meetings on 27th September 2021 with the selected 10 NHP implementing agencies (Maharashtra GW, Telangana-SW, Uttar Pradesh-SW, BBMB, Delhi, Puducherry, Manipur, Tripura, CWPRS and CGWB) and he discussed about their overall and major head- wise procurement, physical and financial progress and also deliberated on the data sharing status of non-NHP and NHP stations as well as major pending issues with the agencies. The meeting was attended by NPMU officials, TAMC experts, and the officers from the respective 10 implementing agencies of NHP. During the meeting, the Joint Secretary (JS) emphasized on the importance of data sharing with the Water Information Management System (WIMS), managed by the National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC).
  
• Progress Review Meetings of NHP held at CWPRS on 17th and 20th Sept, 2021. The Director, CWPRS & Project Coordinator (NHP) convened meetings to review the progress of NHP activities (Physical & Financial). On 20th September 2021, the review of activities was related to testing/calibration facilities and other activities under NHP. The agenda of the meetings was to track progress as well as to overcome shortcomings behind the slow pace of ongoing activities under NHP.
  

WRD, Rajasthan had organized an awareness campaign in the month of September 2021 on the occasion of Bharat ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at three places in Sri Ganga Nagar’s Sagatpura, Orki, Rohidwali under the NHP.

Assam

• The State Data Centre will be equipped with for receiving digital real-time data from a system of telemetry instruments installed at various river sites of Assam. The received data will be further processed in the system, equipping the State Data Centre, to output different water resource data & information of the particular rivers covered in the system. The basic objective of the data center is to digitize the hydrometer logical data like water level, discharge, cross-sectional area, velocity, rainfall, suspended sediment load, etc.

Rajasthan

• SCADA Bid Document for Chappi dam and Parbati dam has been prepared for Automatic Gate Control of Dams and Head Regulators. With the establishment of SCADA system, the automatic operation of gallery sump wells along with real-time monitoring of pond level as well as the water level cum discharge of the inflow/outflow river can also be monitored. The tenders should be floated on 30th Sep, 2021.
• Real Time Water Quality Monitoring System at Hanumangarh: The water quality sensor and their control room equipment have been supplied at site and the installation work completed. Commissioning work is done on 09/09/21.
• Gang & Bhakra Canal SCADA: The civil work is completed for the installation of Instruments like SCADA Control room, Gauge Hut at Cross regulator and Gauge well for water level sensor at Hanumangarh
• Contract was signed on 8th Sep,2021 with B.S.R Corporation Pvt. Ltd. for Construction of 39 nos’ of piezometer with double cap, platform and other civil works in Udaipur.

Punjab

The signing of an agreement under the National Hydrology Project between WRD, Punjab, and M/s Wight Environmental Pvt Ltd in JV with M /s Jomiso Consulting Pvt Ltd regarding" Development of Inflow Forecast System for Ranjit Sagar Dam and inundation mapping of downstream of Ranjit Sagar Dam project".

Haryana

The honourable Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana, on 18th Sept’21 has launched the RTDAS system under the NHP. Haryana WRD installed 90 Real-time Data Acquisition Systems (RTDAS) to monitor water flow in irrigation canals. The system commissioned during June 2021, uses contact-less sensors and advanced canal surveying instruments to report water-level and flow-discharge data at an hourly rate. Access to accurate information directly from the field in a timely and reliable manner has far-reaching implications in the governance and delivery of irrigation services.

Telangana

Telangana Groundwater Deptt issued a letter of award and entered into a contract agreement with M/s. PRB Infra projects Pvt Ltd. for the Construction of 152 Nos Piezometers (Bore wells) with protection works in five Districts of Southern Telangana Region as part of Ground water monitoring network improvement. The Director inaugurated the work at Medchal district and 11 piezometer drillings are completed.

CPCB

CPCB shared historical water quality data for the year 2018 under National Water Quality Monitoring Program (NWMP) to NWIC in API with JSON format for migration on the India-WRIS portal during September 2021.

• Under NHP, an in-house virtual training program on “Analysis of Ground Water Level Data” was organized on September 14, 2021by Telangana Ground Water Dept. The participants were the officers of GWD, Telangana, and other Implementing Agencies of NHP. The objectives of the training program were to analyse GW level monitoring data both periodical and high-frequency data and its utilization in the water sector..
  
• CWPRS organised an online training for Telangana GWD from 27th September to 1st of October 2021 on RTDAS for Godavari & Krishna River Basins in Telangana State. There were 33 department officers participated in the training programme.
  
• Kerala, Groundwater Department, organized a one-day training program under NHP on the topic of Basic Modules of GRASP Software on 09.09.21. This training was focused on basic modules of GRASP software.
• An online training course for two days from 7th to 8th of Sep’21 was conducted on “Random Sea Wave Generation and Automatic Tide Generation Systems for physical model studies”. There were seven in-house participants attended the event. The course was designed to disseminate the knowledge to the practicing engineers, researchers, who have a keen interest in learning the latest technologies present in the field of servo hydraulics and various advanced methods for wave-making in physical models. Director CWPRS had emphasized on the importance of training for effective utilization of physical models in simulation of random and regular sea waves for the design of port layout and marine structures. The total number of participants in the event were 42.

During the month of September, 2021, Implementing Agencies spent Rs. 17.77 Crore against the released amount of Rs. 85.34 Crore for the same period.

Since its inception in FY 2016-17 until 30th September, 2021, a total expenditure of Rs. 651 Crore has been incurred under National Hydrology Project.

The cumulative funds released till September, 2021 are Rs. 792 Crore.
