Overview

The training programme provides an overview of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems applications in water resources management. A brief introduction to remote sensing and GIS along with hand on exercises will be discussed. The program mainly covers various topics include hydrological modelling, SWAT modelling using HUMID, water bodies extraction, reservoir sedimentation, inventory & monitoring of glacial lakes, crop area mapping, estimation of Evapotranspiration, near real-time flood mapping, spatial flood Early Warning System, ground water studies with practical exercises and introduction to Bhuvan and water resources geoportals.

Objective

The objective of the course is to introduce principles and applications of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Course also aims to develop the skill of using RS& GIS software in applications of water resources management.
