National Hydrology Project has been gradually making significant strides in spite of COVID situation to achieve its objective of unifying the nationwide water resources information, making it available, analysing the issues and delivering solutions as well as developing strength to sustain the efforts. However, in order to ensure that the project benefits are delivered to the stakeholders prior to completion of the project, course corrections for the slacks are being taken up with immediate effect.
Considering the remaining period of only 2.5 years of NHP, the implementation process is to be accelerated in a mission mode. The allocations which have been made to the IAs as per their Project Implementation Plans must be executed by the end of current financial year. In order to complete award of all contracts before ending the current financial year, i.e., March 2022. The process for revision of PIP, based on gap analysis, must be finalised by November 2021. The relevant issues and specific action points for each of the agencies have been formulated through a series of review meetings held by Shri Subodh Yadav, Joint Secretary (A, IC&GW), DoWR, RD & GR and Project Coordinator of National Hydrology Project (NHP) zone wise.

by Secretary Sir, MoJS, Additional Secretary Ma’am, Joint Secretary Sir (A, IC & GW), DoWR, RD & GR. The meeting was focused on the role of NHP in dealing with
data acquisition, the overall progress of NHP in various sections – RTDAS/ Finance/ SCADA/ PDS /DATA /Hydromates/Piezometers/ Status of Data Centres, etc.
Zone-wise review meeting of National Hydrology Project (NHP) was held on 2nd November 2021 at Kolkata, chaired by Joint Secretary (A, IC&GW) Sh. Subodh Yadav, IAS & Project Coordinator, NHP. Shri. Prabhat Mishra, Principal Secretary, Government of West Bengal, and senior officers of East and North Eastern states had attended the review meeting.
JS reviewed the physical and financial progress of East & North Eastern Zone implementing agencies including Kerala SW at Vedic Village, Kolkata. All the officers of NPMU and experts of TAMC had participated in the meeting. Followed by this review meeting, a zonal review meeting was held the next day. The key things discussed in the meeting were technical aspects like State WRIS and the use of RS and GIS in Planning, Designing, and Impact Assessment for the IAs.
On 3rd November 2021, a site inspection was initiated at ARG site, Uttarbhag, West Bengal ARG, DWLR, Bikash Bhawan by Sh. Kushagra Sharma, Senior Joint Commissioner,
NPMU along with Sh. Santosh Singh, TAMC expert. The purpose of site visits was basically about verifying technical tools and functionalities, also a demonstration
of data logger (SP, R-16, R-64, Gamma, etc) by the team SWID. During the visit, the SJC-II provided due suggestions to the State officers concerned for further
improvement.
NPMU, New Delhi held a review meeting on 17th Nov’ 21 with CWC and NER IAs. The discussion took place about existing bottlenecks in the implementation of RTDAS
activities and their solutions.
In commemoration of 75 years of Independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ) and 50 years of statehood of Meghalaya, on 21st October 2021, the office of the Executive Engineer WRD, East
Jaintia Hills Division conducted an Awareness Programme for School Students at different project sites in and around Khliehriat, the District Head Quarter. The primary objective was to
sensitize and motivate the next generation young minds on the importance of data collection on both surface and groundwater and their usages.
Under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, on 2nd October’21, a one-day Celebration was held on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav India @75 Years coinciding with the Gandhi Jayanti and of “Cleanliness Drive”.
It was held in the premises of National Hydrology Project & Atal Jal Bhujal offices at CGO complex, MTNL Building.

Since its very inception in FY 2016-17 until 30th November, 2021, a total expenditure of Rs. 693 Crore has been incurred under National Hydrology Project.
The cumulative funds released till November, 2021 are Rs. 806 Crore.
