I am the team leader and originator of the first ever operational GIS based flood early warning system (better known as FLEWS) implemented in Brahmaputra and Barak basin in North Eastern region (Mainly Assam). We are working with quasi distributed, fully distributed, Lumped hydrological models as well as both 1D and 2D hydraulic and hydrodynamic models. On the met side we are also working with Numerical Weather prediction models (WRF 3D VAR/ 4D VAR). Presently we are trying to develop skill set for using multi model ensemble met forecasts in order to improve the forecast lead. Recently we have developed the geo portal of ASSAM RIVER ATLAS (riveratlas.nesdr.gov.in)
