The Groundwater Surveys and Development Agency (GSDA) is implanting this activity under National Hydrology Project. A total of 39 dams have been selected across Gujarat under the NHP, providing information about the reservoir through bathymetry survey, catchment characteristics, details of the capacity survey carried out, including methodology of the data collected, standard guidelines/procedures. Telangana, Groundwater Dept Water Lab has procured and installed an ICP-OES instrument for heavy metal analysis under NHP.
In a flood, early warning system the most important input is real-time hydrometeorological observations provided by the weather, Rader satellites, and automatic hydrometeorological station networks. This real-time data under the National Hydrology Project will be utilized in various ways to evaluate flood risk and issues of flood warnings at 11 locations at Tripura state for the prevention of life & property.

Shri Subodh Yadav, Joint Secretary (A, IC & GW)MoJS has reviewed the Flood Early Warning System for Godavari and Tapi River Basins developed by the National Remote Sensing Centre under National Hydrology Project on 01 April 2021. The National Remote Sensing Centre has made the Spatial Flood Early Warning System for Godavari and Tapi Basins operational. The accuracy achieved was more than 85% with a lead time of 48 hours. It has the potential to stop flood deaths through improved evacuation planning.

On 3rd Feb 2021, A review meeting was held at NPMU Office. SJC I, SJCII & SJC III & NPMU team have reviewed and discussed various ongoing activities of NHP with the concerned experts. The team has decided to expedite the implementation of the activities in the coming months.
12.01.2021: Sh. Rakesh Kashyap, SJC -I along with Chief Engineer, Nodal Officer-NHP & team from Implementing Agency Odisha visited the piezometer sites, rooftop rainwater recharge structure, and All-weather station at State Data Centre, Bhubaneshwar.
Installation of RTDAS is in progress in Haryana in line with NHP''s core objective of providing data as a service. The first initiative by Haryana under National Hydrology Project on 29th December 2020.
JS (A, IC & GW) &Project Coordinator (NHP), visited Okhla Barrage, Delhi on 19th December 2020 where the SCADA system for Automated Barrage Operations has been installed under NHP by Uttar Pradesh (SW). This is the 1st SCADA under National Hydrology Project (NHP).
In a meeting at Shram Shakti Bhawan, the Minister of Jal Shakti, Sh. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Ji reviewed the works under National Hydrology Project on 15th December 2020. Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary (A, IC & GW), DoWR, RD & GR, apart from SJCs and Deputy Team Leader of the TAMC team also attended the meeting. Hon’ble Minister highlighted the potential of the project in improving water resources management through the informed decision making and expressed satisfaction towards initiatives undertaken. NHP shall be striving hard to act on those directions and suggestions of the Minister to enhance the implementation progress under NHP.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

To improve the extent, quality, and accessibility of water resources information, decision support system for floods and basin level resource assessment/planning and to strengthen the capacity of targeted water resources professionals and management institutions in India.

A.WATER RESOURCES MONITORING SYSTEM

This component will finance the establishment/modernization of new and existing hydromet monitoring systems including meteorology, streamflow, ground water, water quality and water storage measurements, and construction of hydro-informatics centers that capture both water resources and uses. This component will be implemented by states/UTs with the support....

B.WATER RESOURCES INFORMATION SYSTEM

Component B will support the strengthening of national and sub-national water information centers with web-enabled WRISs through standardization of databases and products from various data sources/departments and make comprehensive, timely, and integrated water resources information available to decision makers for effective planning, decision making, and operations....
